photoblog image Dougal in his best bow tie

This is Dougal who used to work as a sensory anticipation dog - I'm sure that's not the right terminology, but he used to warn his owner half an hour before she was going to have an epileptic seizure.  Amazing.  My friends adopted him in his retirement.  Sadly he is now blind, but he enjoyed the party walk nevertheless.

I never knew there was such a thing...
Penny: Amazing isn't it Larry?
Here's a link to one of the organisations that do it.

Amazing isn't it that dogs possess powers that we, for all our sophistication, do not have. Ratty can tell the time. If I don't do something I usually do at the "right time" she gets quite agitated..
Penny: Yes and I saw an amazing horse today, Chris - not enough time to type but will tell you sometime. I'm going to Scotland next week so trying to get ready.

He is so special!
Penny: Yes he really is, Mary, especially as he was rescued himself from a dogs home to be trained for his work.

He deserves to have a good retirement
Penny: They've given him a good home, Bill. The trainers got him from a rescue home. Lovely story.
